The Advanced Business Studies Course is designed to focus on modern business techniques leaving the graduate ready to develop the essential skills and techniques which form the basis for a career in industry, commerce or the public service. The course comprises both theoretical and practical modules, and students will gain an understanding of Business Management.

Students and adult learners, who have a flair for business, will find this course gives them an opportunity to build on their knowledge and experience and refine their skills so that upon successful completion they will have a set of professional management and business skills which will bring them into a career of their choice.

Students will study at least eight subjects including Business Management, Business Planning, Finance, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Employment Law.

This course offers great employment potential in the area of management, finance, business planning, sales and marketing.

Entry Requirements:

No prior skills, knowledge or competence in the award subject matter will be required of the learner for successful entry to the programme; but learners will be expected to have a minimum of Ordinary Level Leaving Certificate standard of education or equivalent and/or experience.  Proficiency in English language is required, together with a strong interest in (subject).
Learners whose first language is not English will be required to provide proof of proficiency in the English language through satisfactory performance on an internationally recognised test (e.g. IELTS 5.5) or other similar English Language qualifications.

Progressive College are committed to providing equal access to education and equal opportunities for mature students (23 years +).  Mature applicants do not need to match school-leavers in terms of academic achievement, provided there is evidence of the ability to pursue and benefit from the course, but candidates must be 23 years of age or over on the 1st January of the year of entry to their programme of study.  Mature students must also have proficiency in the English language.
